Pastoral

Care

We understand that every pupil is different. They learn in different ways and have different interests and areas of strength. Individual pupils also have different needs at different times. Our pastoral care strategy is geared towards helping each pupil discover where their particular talents lie and offering tailored support when they need it.

We have a highly personalised approach to meeting the academic, physical and emotional needs of every pupil. We use information and data from primary schools, our own assessments, national tests and meetings with pupils and parents to make sure we know our pupils well and understand their individual needs.

We work hard to help our pupils to lead healthy lifestyles and develop emotional wellbeing and resilience. A range of activities will take place during the year which involve pupils working together, boosting their sense of identity and belonging.

Year Team

The Year Team will be responsible for ensuring the welfare of pupils. They work closely with parents and guardians to make sure a support structure is in place for every pupil.

Every pupil will be assigned to a form led by a Form Tutor. Your child’s Form Tutor will get to know them well as an individual and will help them to understand the school systems and expectations. Form Tutors are the first point of contact between home and the academy. They will make sure parents are regularly updated on any issues that are preventing their child from learning, and they take particular care during the transition from primary to secondary school.

Head of Years (HOY) are assigned to each year group and are tasked with overseeing the educational and academic progress of each and every pupil. They will use a variety of tracking, target setting and monitoring tools to monitor pupil progress. They ensure all pupils in their designated Year Group are focused on achieving to the best of their capabilities, whilst working to remove any barriers to learning that pupils may be experiencing.

A Senior Leader will also be linked to each year group to support with the pupils academic and personal development.
